Review of the Paypal Online Payments Processor

paypal

www.paypal.com

Credit card, bank and check/cheque online payments management system to receive and send money through the web.

Let me start by saying that my personal experience to date with Paypal has been 100% satisfactory. I have never had a complaint and besides a sometimes difficult to navigate website the system has always done what I wanted it to do. I’ve processed over $20,000 worth of transactions and never had trouble accessing my money.

An online payment processor is one of the most important parts of an online business. Without the ability to receive money online you can’t really run an Internet business. Sure you could work only with offline payment methods such as money orders, cheques in the mail or cash, but all of these methods are slow and you will definitely be losing potential customers if you don’t offer some form of instant payment method that handles credit cards.

Paypal’s Bad Reputation

When I first hunted for a payments processor, which at the time was for a web hosting business I was planning, I came across Paypal. That was about seven years ago and I’d say my story is a pretty common one since Paypal was one of the first providers of “email currency”, a system where you could send money via email and there were not many options particularly for Australians back then.

As usual I conducted extensive due diligence before deciding to use Paypal. As I read forums and surfed around the web I quickly came to realize that Paypal had a terrible reputation, so bad that some of its detractors had set up a website called PaypalSucks.com, which still functions today.

As someone who has been hit several times by credit card fraud I’m particularly wary of chargebacks from customers who use Paypal to buy things from me with a credit card. To be honest I have very little confidence in Paypal to protect me from chargebacks, but that is more because of the way online transactions work - protecting the buyer, especially when no signature is present (as in all online transactions) - rather than the seller. The best chance I have, and this is where I would expect services like Paypal to protect me, is to stop fraudulent transactions before they occur.

Once the payment is made and the service or product is provided then it’s too late. Chargebacks hurt the bottom line of your business and chances are you won’t be able to beat a chargeback claim as an online merchant with no signature. However if a payment provider can stop a suspect payment using historical data and other fraud detection methods then I will not send the product or provide the service hence eliminating my exposure to loss from chargebacks.

I’ve written extensively about why I’ve recommended Paymate.com.au, an Aussie Paypal-style service, over Paypal in the past, and most of my justification was based on Paymate’s superior fraud prevention. I’ve since changed my mind during the last two years because Paypal has performed well for me and their fees are a good 30% or so cheaper than Paymate and now offer Australian-centric services. I still offer both services to my customers but prefer when they choose Paypal because it’s cheaper for me.

I’ve read the book Paypal Wars which gives a good explanation for why Paypal has such a bad reputation. In a nutshell there were times in the company’s past where it was the target of all kinds of criminal action and it suffered millions of dollars worth of losses. As part of the retaliation against these criminals many honest customers were affected, losing access to their accounts and later resulting in the class action lawsuit which cost Paypal $9.25 million dollars.

Paypal also suffered because of it’s tremendous growth rate. The managers of Paypal are largely to blame since they were focused on customer acquisition above all else during the growth phase of the business. This resulted in a company that simply could not handle the amount of customers it had to deal with and hence the poor customer service reputation.

Despite all the negative history Paypal managed to grow and maintain it’s de facto standard as the leader in online payments. The grumblings from users seems to have reduced in the last few years and my feeling is that the company turned a corner and now has systems in place to deal with fraud and customer support that are far superior to what they had in the late nineties and early two thousands. Paypal has matured through it’s growing pains, and while no doubt there are still issues, the bad stories just aren’t quite as frequent as they used to be (of course this could be because the publicity has been spun in a more positive light, but lets not be skeptical).

The Bad

The fact is there are some pretty bad horror stories of people booted from Paypal for no good reason, having their funds locked away (sometimes thousands of dollars lost) and many tales of poor customer service. I read many negative stories while researching Paypal and became very paranoid. In the end though, I still signed up to be a Paypal user because it had become the standard method of sending money online, which is tantamount to how strong their business model was despite all the negative stories floating around - you couldn’t afford not to use them. I had to offer this method of payment to my customers because I wanted to keep resistance to buy as low as possible, even if it meant risking being the next victim of a Paypal horror story.

Seven years later and happily I have no horror stories to tell. However since this is a review and I always like to discuss both the good and the bad I will tell you what I do and don’t like about Paypal in terms of my experience with it.

The customer service isn’t great. The website attempts it’s hardest to give you answers so you don’t have to query Paypal customer support via email, or heaven forbid, via the phone. Once I have tried to ask a question of their phone support but I gave up, it was just too time consuming. The email support is okay, but often has trouble answering your specific question and tends to send you preformatted template responses, which, if you are lucky, answer about half your question. Mind you the last time I required support was about two years ago and the service has likely improved. It had greatly improved over the previous two years when I last tried customer service so I think they were on the way up and may even be reasonable today.

The website is simply-complicated. Yes the design is simple, which I like, but often you can’t find the answer you want. If all you want to do is use the core functions then the Paypal website is a breeze. In my case I receive credit card payments regularly and spend money from my Paypal balance on auction items and other online purchases. Paypal is perfect for this. The more complicated your needs the more difficulty you are going to experience.

Sometimes the basic functions you would expect are not available or difficult to find. I’ve had trouble for example forcing a payment to come from my credit card and not my Paypal balance. Sometimes what you think would be an intuitive option just isn’t available and you don’t know if it’s because you couldn’t find it or because it doesn’t exist or has been deliberately made not available.

The Good

The multiple currencies system, which finally started servicing Australia recently, is fantastic and I love the way I can transfer balances in and out of different major currencies easily (you can do currency trading just within Paypal, although the rates aren’t great for short term profiteering).

The cut and paste shopping cart functions are ideal for me since I prefer to use very simple plain text “buy now” links. Once again the more complicated your online shopping cart needs the steeper the learning curve you will face integrating it with Paypal.

Paypal recently launched a merchant account service called Payments Pro that functions as a completely seamless online shopping system for your website. Provided you have the shopping cart software you can use Paypal as the gateway and payment processor and it’s completely private label, which means you can brand it as your own. I have not needed to use this service as yet so I cannot make a comment on how good it is.

Conclusion

All-in-all, for what Paypal does - primarily to allow you to send money through email and take credit card payments online - it does well. It makes what could be a terribly complex function, one full of potential security and privacy issues, and turns it into something as simple as sending email. For that they deserve kudos and I’m extremely happy with the core function and recommend it to everyone.

Yes there are customer service issues. Yes Paypal has a fairly rocky history. Yes you open yourself up to potential losses from chargebacks. The fact remains that Paypal is the largest online payments provider and you really can’t afford to not offer this method to your customers.

I recommend making other payment options available to your customers since it’s never good to rely only on one provider. I also recommend you regularly withdraw funds from your Paypal account and put that money to work for you. There is no interest in a Paypal account and you never know when you could be the next victim of a horror story or fraud attack so keep your money where you know it’s safe - in the bank or in investments.

A Viral Blog From An Authority Site?

Creating authority blogs is becoming greatly popular, but can it also be a viral blog? There are numerous reasons that people are are becoming more interested in taking advantage of this practice. The leading reason being is that a fair share of what used to be effective for marketers honestly isn’t working very well anymore. In many respects, creating a viral blog out of an authority style site, will have great benefits in the future.

Consulting and co-ordinating with quite a few other promoters online, some of us have been seeing a heavy slump in the bulk of profits being created by many different types of products. There has also been some of us paying attention to how much tougher it is to make sales, even with the best products available, and that putting together lists with complimentary reports and the like, is noticeably getting tougher every day.

Personally, I believe it’s because of all of the different giveaway events which have been taking place. Sure, giveaway events are great for helping to build a list, but, the effects are certainly being felt. With so many products being available for free, it seems to have had a damaging effect on the industry as a whole.

It definitely is happening a lot with Resale Rights and PLR variations of products. In a whole bunch of situations, varied types of affiliate earnings are down to. Invariably, this also will depend on which part of the market, you are in, but if you are in the Internet Marketing niche, it has certainly been quite prominent.

In the case of building your lists with free to download reports, it seems to be having limited results since the majority of people have been utilizing this method for quite some time now. Being that most of these reports are complimentary to get their hands on, people are placing very little value on them. This can definitely be the case whether they are supplying to readers extreme high value content for people or not. It’s unfortunate, sometimes people just can’t tell which is of high value or not, since they’ve be onslaughted with so much garbage. It’s only the very intuitive and seasoned marketer that seems to be able to distinguish “what is crap”, and what isn’t.

For newcomers on the scene, they haven’t the knowledge to know the difference yet. It’s very damaging to them as well, when you think about it.

For this reason, and as we’ve been learning with Sam Clark, it’s one of the reasons we need to heavily concentrate on building something of real value, such as an authority site. We must also be fully focused on traffic. By creating a viral blog I’m envisioning your authority style site being much more valuable to you.

Many of the products out there, unfortunately concentrate only on short term profits. Sure, some methods might bring in some fast dollars, but, what about the future of your business when these methods aren’t going to be working anymore, as discussed above. If you build an authority site, we won’t run into these problems in the future. We must always be thinking of the long term goal of our project. Of course we have short term goals, but, by having the long term goal focused in your mind, it will help you to keep plugging away until you get to your destination.

One of the reasons I’m quite reluctant to give bonuses with certain products these days, is that it also seems to hurt the perceived value in which the product really does contain. It’s sort of a toss up, since if you aren’t giving a bonus, a person may just go and purchase the product from somebody else. But, at the same time, with the products I promote, I want integrity in my marketing and quality to to be realized by the customer. I don’t want to water things down so that their perception of a product is now tainted because to sell the product it had to be completely milked with bonuses.

In the time that I’ve been online, I”ve personally read probably well over 100 full length marketing guides from various authors. If you are talking about quality of infomation to be found there are very few guides out there that are even in the realm of quality which people will see from Holly Mann’s newest guide (soon to be released), or Affiliate Payload, and a few others. The information contained in guides of this caliber far surpass the outlay of the prices for these guides. Products such as this, really don’t need any bonuses, this information is pure gold, and worth thousands to the recipients if the techniques are applied. The sad part is, that many people won’t even realize it, because of all the garbage they’ve already been exposed to.

One of the reasons, I created The Elite Breed Newsletter a while back, was because I just couldn’t stand what marketers were doing anymore, to be completely blunt. A lot of marketers out there are marketing anything and everything under the sun, just to make the quick buck. Marketers like this, I feel have a complete disregard, and dis-respect, for their customers. With The Elite Breed Newsletter I really wanted to make a difference in people’s lives by only leading them with the “real” information that they need, and clear the clutter in which they have all been exposed. Whether or not, I’m making a difference with it or not, I’m not quite sure..but, in time, I hope to.

Viral blogging, authority sites, and the use of Social sites is now one of the best things to consider in my opinion. I believe it will save the marketers who want to be in this business in 10 or 20 years.

Building powerful authority style types of sites and blogging has become a real staple recently. When you are taking the time and effort that is required in making a site be known as an authority site, you will have a true piece of value on the internet for years to come. Eminently, if you can create a viral blog out of the authority site you are building, it stands to generate big rewards in the future. Viral marketing can work out with your blog just about the same as in many other types of viral avenues. Actually, the fact that it is a blog is fantastic because of all the functionality and viral respects that can be resulted from a blog.

Is it safe to say that a person ought to be devising an authority site to establish it as a a viral blog? Yes, without a second thought. If you are capable of doing the work on a regular basis, and create a viral blog with your authority site it will be have a life force of it’s own in the future. It will most likely turn out to be less upkeep and work in the future, after a lot of hard work in the beginning. The viral blog effect can be a real asset and value to you.

Consequently, there is a vast amount of you that may be thinking about the question of, “Which blogging platform would be excellent to be building your blog and authority site from?” There is no hesitation in saying, Wordpress is the way to go. Wordpress has the most functionality and personalization options available to people simply because of all of the various plug-ins that can be put to use for your viral blog. Wordpress, is undoubtedly a perfect answer for the viral blogger in you. There are a few other platforms you could use, but, it’s likely most won’t have options for you to be putting to good use. Viral internet marketing with blogs is here to stay, the sooner you get started…the better.

How To Become A Great Affiliate Marketer In 8 Easy Steps

by BILL ACHOLA WRIGHT

(1). Decide whether you're in or you're out. Affiliate marketing is not the simplest means of earning income. If you're looking for "easy," get a McJob flipping burgers or doing customer service. Affiliate marketing requires that you be intelligent, resourceful, and entrepreneurial. The benefits offered by various free affiliate programs are usually enough to get you started down the path.

(2). Learn basic web programming. While you can get away without knowing any programming at all, having a good understanding of HTML markup and even a basic programming language like PHP will get you far, and you'll be ahead of about 90% of your competition. Free affiliate programs usually do not offer services that teach you how to program. This you'll have to learn on your own.

(3). Get up to speed on marketing and advertising techniques. Unless you're coming from a background in marketing or you have a MBA, the most experience you've likely had with the subject is being the recipient of advertising. You must learn how to create ads that sell, or at least be able to recognize good ad copy from bad copy if you choose to outsource your advertising development. A free affiliate program may offer you advertising examples you can use as your own.

(4). Find a free affiliate program that can mentor you. Many of the best free affiliate programs offer a section for new affiliates that can get you up to speed on the efficient promotion of their product or service. Some programs will even give you a free version of their product to help you better understand promotion methods.

(5). Decide what marketing methods you want to use.
There are a multitude of ways to get people visiting your affiliate promotions. Some are free, while some cost money. Free methods usually take time, whereas paid marketing generally has more immediate results.

(6). Build your affiliate marketing campaign. This is where everything you've learned above comes together. Your first attempts may bomb. Don't fret. Persistence pays off in affiliate marketing, and since you've chosen to promote products from free affiliate programs, your investment is minimal.

(7). Launch! This is the easiest part. Sit back and see what happens.

(8). Analyze the results. And this is the most important part. If you don't understand what's happening in your campaigns, and how to fix it, then you won't be successful. Your free affiliate program may offer resources which will help you better understand the results of your marketing. http://tinyurl.com/dmyexq

How to make free money from your blog using Bidvertiser

by Angie Johnston

Make money from your Website or Blog with BidVertiser. Bidbertiser is just like Google adsense, only you have more options of how you want your ads to look and you have more ways to make money. The other things about Google adsense is that you are only allowed 3 ad blocks per page of your web page. If your blogging for money than 3 ad blocks isn't going to cut it, you'll need to find other advertising companies to put on your page for more revenue opportunities. On one of my more profitable blogs i am using Google Adsense, Kontera (in-text ads), Bidvertiser and if i find a good product that relates i sometimes use Amazon and Clickbank. Though many of Clickbanks capture pages turn me off for some reason.

With Bidvertiser you can make money 3 ways :

First is pay per click revenue -You get paid every time a visitor clicks on one of your ads. The ad block choices are very similar to Google Adsense, with a few extra choices.

Second is to refer advertisers -When a user signs as an advertiser and first spends $10, Bidvertiser will credit your account with $5. When that same advertiser spends $50, you will be credited with an additional $20 and so on.

-Another great thing about referring advertisers is that bidvertiser offers and excellent reward for the advertiser. When they sign up they are given they're fir $20 worth of ppv for free. They don't even have to spend any money first, its just free

Third is to refer publishers -When a user signs as a publisher and first earns $10, Bidvertiser will credit your account with $10. When that same publisher earns $50, you will be credited with an additional $40 and so on.

I won't lie, if you were to click a link from this article and sign up as a publisher for Bidvertiser I will be paid. But that doesn't make this any less of a money making opportunity for you and lets face it, no matter what, someone will make money when you sign up. Why not help a fellow blogger? Bidvertiser, like Kontera (i really recommend kontera btw) and Google Adsense are 100% free to use if you are a publisher, obviously it costs to advertise just like Google Adwords.

You can make money by referring new publishers many ways. Bidvertiser has many pre-made advertisements that you can add to your page specifically for bringing in new publishers or advertisers (like an affiliate program with really awesome rewards). Also you can create a small sentence placed at the end of every post that will lead people to the bidvertiser web site. (I have added a advertisement in my signature, less work that way.) Of course it wouldn't hurt to write an article every now and again, as every webmaster online who is trying to make they're fortune knows, articles are a easy way to get your information out to people and get listed on Google.

So good luck to you all with your monetizing!

Using PPC to drive profitable retail sales

by Tug

The following is a quick best practice guide to developing and managing a ROI focused PPC campaign for a retail e-commerce website.

Get the Keywords right
- Start with an exhaustive list of keywords. Be ready to prune quickly
- Concentrate on precise, relevant keywords.
- If you sell Retro/Novelty t-shirts you should bid on paris hilton t-shirt and avoid paris hilton clothes
- Organise your campaign into highly relevant ad groups that include only the keywords that convert into sales within your CPA target. Eg. paris hilton keywords, ëstar wars keywordsí, ëdirty dancing keywords etc.

Get the Ads right
- Test 3-4 ads for each of your ad groups.
- Write relevant, benefit focused ad copy. Look for the ones that get the highest click through rates and conversion rates.
- For Retail, our experience shows that the following is the best ad format: * Title: Paris Hilton T-shirts - consumer benefit: They have exactly the item I am looking for * Description 1: All your favourite Retro & Novelty Tees - consumer benefit: They also have other items I might likeí * Description 2: Order today, Get it tomorrow! - consumer benefit: I can get my items quickly and easily * Display URL: www.BrandURL.com/BuyNow - branding and call to action

Get the Landing Page right
- Land consumers onto the most relevant page on your site.
- Ideally you would have a page that only includes your breadth of Paris Hilton t-shirts.
- Links to the rest of the range should be obvious and easy to navigate.
- Other consumer benefits such as free postage & packaging, and sales should be obvious. Cross-sell similar items.
- Ensure that the sales process is quick and easy

Analyse and Optimise for Profit
- Track and record the value of each sale at the keyword level
- When optimising, include your margins and the cost of media in your reports, to determine which are your profitable keywords
- Depending if you are looking for volume or only profitable individual sales, prune your keyword list accordingly.

Let PPC influence the Product Range
- Some items are not easy to describe and are not searched for. Concentrate on the keywords for items in your range that are searched for regularly, and then cross-sell your other items on the landing page.
- If you see a high number of ad impressions and clicks for an ad group, with a low number of sales it could be that a product range is popular but you dont have the breadth of choice being searched for. Let the PPC data influence your range.
- Ranges that are popular should be broadened and stocked regularly to support the PPC campaign.

PPC working with your other Marketing Communications
- If you have a recognized brand, include this prominently in your PPC ad copy. Official Site is a strong consumer benefit.
- Support good PR with As seen IN and As seen ON ad copy. This traditionally drives higher sales for several days after the release.
- Brand awareness banner campaigns can greatly increase your PPC brand sales, which are traditionally the cheapest.
- Support your PPC campaign with a robust SEO strategy for your broader keywords that drive traffic but have a higher conversion cost through PPC
- Ultimately PPC should be driving your regular sales, filling in the troughs, made by the peaks from your other bursts of online and offline communications.

HOW TO CONVINCE PEOPLE TO LEAVE COMMENTS

Let me set something straight right now.

If your blog has no traffic you will not receive
any comments.

It makes sense of course, but some people don't
see the connection between these two elements.

If no one is reading your blog then no one will
leave comments either. Simply posting great
articles to your blog is not enough - you have to
*market* your blog to bring people to it.

We will talk A LOT about marketing throughout my
newsletter, so stay tuned for that.

For now, understand if you don't receive any
comments to your blog it's probably not that your
content is bad or people don't like you, it's
because you simply don't have enough traffic.

If on the other hand you do have some traffic, yet
no one replies to your posts, there are ways to
stimulate comments.

Try these tips to begin with -

- Write articles that reference or focus on other
bloggers
. You will get their attention that way
and there's a good chance they will come to your
blog and leave a comment as a result.

- Ask your readers a question at the end of your
article.

- Write about topics that stimulate conversation,
such as current events (think politics, news,
entertainment)
.

- Be controversial with your writing. Have a
strong opinion and others with strong opinions
will reply to argue or agree with you.

- Be patient. Sometimes you just have to wait
until the first person leaves a comment which
opens the floodgates.

KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING

A while ago I stopped actively responding to
comments on my blog unless I was asked a direct
question. I really had no excuse for not doing it,
I was just lazy and working on other writing
projects. Consequently the average number of
comments on my blog entries dropped A LOT.

I noticed the regular commentators stopped
commenting as frequently and most conversations on
my blog ended very quickly.

This is really tragic for a blog and I'll tell
you why - it reduces your "Social Proof".

WHAT IS SOCIAL PROOF?

Social Proof is when humans take action or make a
decision based on seeing other humans doing it
first. It's sort of like an implied recommendation
- if other people do it, it must be good.

It's like when you see a bunch of people all
looking up at something in the sky at the same
time. You can't help but turn your head skywards
and see what all the fuss is about.

When first time visitors to your blog see other
people making lots of comments they are more
likely to decide there is something valuable at
your blog and bookmark or subscribe to it and may
even make a comment.

This is good for blog traffic. This is social
proof in action.

I was very conscious of always taking part in
comment conversations at my blog and consequently
my readership was growing in leaps and bounds. I
stopped and I noticed I hit a wall and my blog
didn't grow quite as well as it was.

I know a blogger who has a rule - she responds to
every single comment made to her blog.

Consequently she has developed a fantastic
community around her blog and her traffic has
skyrocketed in a short period of time.

Remember, comments on your blog are very
important, take the time to respond to them.

Here's to your blogging success,

Various Techniques Of Search Engine Optimization

by Akon

SEO techniques are effective procedures to put a website on the first page of search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN for your targeted keywords. These techniques directly help in raising the SERPs (search engine result positions) of the site, increase site traffic and acquire relevant quality links.

If you want people to find your site via a search engine easily, the site will require a high SERP. This means when users search on specific keywords or phrases, they will find your site on the first page generated by the engine. Having the site on the 10th page of search engine results will not give you satisfactory traffic and you can potentially lose thousands of customers and sales.

Let’s discuss the techniques that can help you towards achieving a high SERP

1. Domain & File Names
Select a domain name of your site that contains words from your main keyword phrase/query. The domain name should also be easy to spell and easy to remember. Ideally it should only contain alpha-numeric characters and no hyphens for optimum results.

2. Easy to think Keywords :
Such keywords are to be used which are searched for in excess on the net. Add keyword synonyms to your content. Make sure you use your keywords from the page you are linking to.

3. Density of placing Keywords :
Keyword density is related to the number of times the keyword appears in the text on a particular page. High keywords density is considered spamming by the search engine and can get your site blacklisted. Your keywords should be toward the top of your page and in either every paragraph or every second paragraph depending on your paragraph length.

4. Misuse of SEO Techniques :
Misuse of search engine optimization techniques may get your site blacklisted from a search engine. Some techniques that are considered spam are cloaking, invisible text, tiny text, identical pages, doorway pages, refresh tags, link farms, filling comment tags with keyword phrases only, keyword phrases in the author tag, keyword density too high, mirror pages and mirror sites etc. These are all termed as Black Hat SEO techniques. While these techniques might work to give you a higher ranking for a short time, however in the long run they will slow down your progress and can have detrimental and very damaging consequences.

5. Construction of Titles and Description :
Each page should have a different title with two or three of your keyword at the beginning. When search engine results are displayed the title is the first thing people observe and therefore enough time should be spent on constructing a fully optimized and well thought title. Your description should also have at least two or three of your keywords at the beginning as so should your first sentence on the page. There should be a different title, description and first sentence on each page.

6. Authors Biography :
At the end of the page place an author biography or company name. This technique will help you to improve the branding of your site and get good rankings for your company name.

7. Website Design :
In what way the website is designed is also important. Text content should balance the HTML text. The pages of the site should validate and be accessible in all browsers and from anywhere.

8. Links on the Site :
There should always a navigation menu present on the site from where you link to all the important pages of the site. The idea is not trying to optimize the home page alone, but each and every page of the site. The secondary and tertiary pages of the site will only be recognized and indexed by the search engines if the spider can reach those pages. There should not a single broken link on any page of the site especially the index/home page.

9. Links to the Site :
This involves ascertaining links that point to your site. The online world is not much different as compared to offline world. The celebrities in the real world are all famous and rich people i.e. have high SERPs. The reason they are famous is because so many people are familiar with them and know about their lives. The same principal applies to web-sties. The more the sites link to your site, the higher it will rank on search engines. This is an ongoing task and therefore a lot of effort should be spent in obtaining links from other sites. In an ideal world you should have all the sites linking to yours and your site not linking out at all. However this is not possible, but the idea should always be kept in mind when trying to acquire links. Also the quality of incoming link plays a big role in determining the overall benefit derived and its effect towards increasing the SERPs. The better the quality the better the result and so on so forth.

These are some of the techniques, which if used effectively can directly help in increasing not only traffic, potential customers but also the rankings on all search engines. In the end it’s not only about what you know but how you act. Hard work, dedication and patience is always a recipe for success, whether working online or offline.

10 Blog Traffic Tips

Click here to watch The Conversion Blogging Video

In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else''s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that''s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.

Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers. These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called "traction", which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.

Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major "pillar" articles. A pillar article is a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good "how-to" lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn’t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don''t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need a easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that''s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you’ve done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people’s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger''s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it''s sort of like your blog telling someone else’s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important - it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will likely come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival often enjoy a spike in new readers.

To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at blogcarnival.com.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it''s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it''s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn’t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it''s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have - your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your "Resource Box". You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I’ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won’t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

I hope you enjoyed my list of traffic tips. Everything listed above are techniques I’ve put into place myself for my blogs and have worked for me, however it''s certainly not a comprehensive list. There are many more things you can do. Finding readers is all about testing to see what works best for you and your audience and I have no doubt if you put your mind to it you will find a balance that works for you.

Viral Marketing With The Social Media Craze

by Davin Ogden

Why Doesn’t Social Media Marketing Work For Most People?

If you have been wondering why no matter how hard you try and grasp this whole concept of Social Marketing you are not alone. Every day we are being told that in this day and age, if we aren’t using the power of social media and creating communities in our marketing efforts, then we might as well curl up in a ball.

“Hey pal, you better get pouting in a corner because you are going to get nowhere fast if your not involved in this!”

“Are you a complete idiot? You need to be using social media to get your message out there!”

We hear these types of statements all the time. Yeah, and if you want your messages to be spreading using a viral means, you’d better put in twice as much thought and effort.

So why is everybody failing miserably at it?

We have huge companies trying to take advantage of the Social Media craze, yet, very few are making even the slightest dent in the landscape of the medium.

Here seems to be the problem :

Communities don’t come together and form around a certain product. Most often this seems to be the big mistake that people trying to build communities don’t understand. It’s a very rare occurence that a community will ever take off and build any sort of following with this type of thinking. Yet, most marketers are attempting to do it this way.

If you think that there is much money to being made by marketers blasting product recommendations back and forth at each other, you are sadly mistaken. It’s no wonder that people aren’t making the profits with social media that they had hoped for. Have you ever wondered why spammers are banned so fast, and are usually on the low end of the money chain when it comes to marketing online?

Marketing with social media has to have a much bigger scope, and a much BIGGER idea behind it, if you are wanting other people to help build your business and sell more of your products. There must be a common goal within a community that delivers and answers the “What’s In It For Me?“.

The real power of making money with social media is by finding that group of people with a common goal and indirectly marketing within this community that you have formed.

Great Examples :

Jack Humphrey - this guy sells a crap load of his products. Why? It’s because Jack has built a whole community about teaching people not only how to market within Social Media circles, but, he also provides the software and tools for them to make it happen as easily as possible.

Charles Heflin
- another great example of a man that delivers the goods. He markets products around his messages within the same like minded thinkers, in which he has built his community as well. Yes, again he teaches people how to market successfully in Social Media circles. He provides the “What’s In It For Me!”, by making their challenges easier in the products and services he creates.

Read a helpful PDF concerning Syndication Revelation.

So could you form a community based around a product like “thimbles”, which may be what your company sells? Probably not directly, no. But, by building a community about the passions of sewing and knitting that thousands of people enjoy, then you might get somewhere. By providing many useful products needed by that community then you are likely to sell a lot of your products!

People need a “reason” to come together and form a community. If this isn’t supplied, success using this “potentially” great viral and social medium will fall short. Try not to form your community around your product. Communities are formed by providing something that we, as human beings, find value in and are passionate about, from a much deeper stand point.

If you understand this, and provide helpful solutions and products relating to the “community need” you are fulfilling, your chances of success are going to be much greater. If your community becomes very popular because of the “benefits” you are providing for it’s “needs”, it will grow and take on a viral marketing effect in due time.

Pay-Per-Click Advertising - A Few Things You Must Know to Make it Work

by Fernando Alvarenga

If I would have to choose one thing among the best strategies for success in an online business, then It would have to be pay-per-click advertising.
I love PPC advertising, and you should, too. You only pay when people click on your ad, your campaign is easy and fast to setup and you can set daily budget limits. It must be the easiest way to attract new customers! So... why isn't everybody becoming a millionaire by using PPC? because there is more to making PPC profitable than it first appears.

Pay-per-click advertising is one of the fastest, easiest ways to increase the number of visitors to your web site and catapult sales, and still many internet business owners and online marketers frequently find themselves spending money on online advertising and never see it translate into increased sales. I used to be one one of them.

My ads weren't working, I was paying over $400 every month for Google ads, and for a few months I was lucky if I generated $100 in sales from them. I was totally depressed with the poor response I was getting and was beginning to feel that it probably wasn't worth spending money on PPC advertising. It is true that PPC advertising can be the fastest and easiest way to grow your business, but I also learned that it can also be one of the quickest ways to go out of business, if you don't train yourself to do it right.

Just when I was thinking about giving up, my last resource was to get specialized training in PPC advertising and I thank God for the decision I made that day. This changed everything. My sales went up by 800% almost immediately after I implemented the first few, simple but proven ideas. Not only did my sales explode, but I learned how to make PPC ads that pay for themselves.

The first thing that I learned, is that you have to stop wishing, hoping and guessing at what to put in your PPC ads. The next thing was to find out for certain what works to get the best response and very importantly, I determined what wasn't working so that I could stop wasting money!

To make your PPC campaign a successful one and more than pay for itself, you have to pay special attention to:

*your keyword selection, *the layout of your ad, *the landing page to which people are directed from the ad, *the sequence of information which results in the highest conversion rates, *identify the marketing messages that actually get attention and keep prospects reading, *And the follow-up strategy which will increase your sales by at least 50 to 100%.

Is your PPC campaign helping you earn as much as you'd like? Does your marketing strategy help you generate hundreds of prospects a week and help you convert them into paying clients? Are you getting the results you want?

The importance of training lies in the fact that you will learn from other people's mistakes and experiences, allowing you to implement proven ideas and avoid the frustration and costs of trial-and-error. There are many, very good online training courses out there that can get you on the track to success. You will save a lot of time and money you would otherwise waste on trying to advertise without the clear strategy that adequate training will give you.

You can get instant access to one of the best PPC training programs at http://www.ppcdominationproject.info

Use this information to design the blueprint for a profitable pay-per-click campaign. You will learn the strategies and tactics that can help you grow your business.

To your success, Fernando Alvarenga.

What You Need To Know To Succeed With Pay Per Click Advertising

by Michelle Kirkbride

The world of pay per click advertising has become more expansive and more difficult. However, there is no need to pass up a lucrative marketing opportunity just because you aren't familiar with this particular method. If you spend your time mastering the tips for creating a successful PPC advertising campaign, you can gain a competitive edge.

The Relationship between Internet Marketing & PPC Advertising Internet marketing and PPC advertising are becoming increasingly popular. You can offer a wide range of products to millions of prospective customers worldwide within a few minutes and on a very small budget. Well, the cost will be relatively inexpensive when compared to many other traditional marketing methods. This method provides you with free advertising to a very targeted market.

Focus On Increasing Your Keywords

If you want to succeed in PPC advertising, you need to create a very large number of keywords. This doesn't mean you can afford to become complacent. A few great keywords that are performing incredibly well are always better than a large list of keywords that are not generating any clicks. Make sure to regularly review your list of keywords to learn which ones are generating a high click-through rate. If you discover words that are performing poorly, eliminate them from your list and replace them with new keywords. This will improve your overall quality score in Google's eyes. This is crucial for effectively managing your PPC campaign and can affect the profitability of your business.

Create an Eye-Catching Title

No matter what you read, creating successful PPC ads in Google AdWords will require more than a few minutes. You want to ensure your marketing campaign is a success so there is no use rushing to finish your ads as quickly as possible. Your title is one of the most important elements of your entire PPC ad, so take your time creating it. Your title should convince visitors to read the rest of your ad and then click through to your landing page. In the competitive market of online advertising, you need to find a way to stand out among your competitors. If you create a unique, compelling title, you will be able to attract a larger number of customers for your goods or services. Conduct some searches in Google to investigate how your competitors are advertising. This will help you gain a competitive edge.

Some effective techniques include asking a question such as "Would You Like To Earn $200,000 Every Month?" or "Here's…" or "How To…" Other options include creating a surprising title such as "Why You Shouldn't Join Our Program" or include keywords in your title so that Google will bold these words. This can draw further attention to your title.

Including A Price Tag or Not

It's often difficult to decide whether you should include the price of your services or products in your PPC ads. You need to know when you would be better to include a price tag, and when it's to your advantage to leave it out of your ad text. For example, if you are selling a computer part for £250 and your competitors are selling the same products for £300, you should definitely include the price in your PPC ads. On the other hand, if you discover that many of your click-throughs are not converting to sales, untargeted traffic may be to blame. One solution would be to include the product price in your text. Another option is to remove any words in the text such as sale, free or download that may encourage people to click without reading your entire ad.

Regularly Monitor & Revise the Content

One of the most common mistakes people make is to create an AdWord campaign and then forget about it or check on it very infrequently. They may see if an AdGroup is profitable and just leave those words or delete any words that aren't making any money. However, a failure to regularly monitor your PPC ads may decrease the success of your PPC marketing campaign. It may also cause you to abandon this advertising method entirely, but for the wrong reasons.

You should monitor every one of your PPC campaigns on a daily basis, even if they are successful. This will help you determine if your profitable keywords are being displayed on the search engine's first results page. If not, you should be ready to make any necessary changes to the text. If you follow these steps, you can enjoy a high conversion rate. This can greatly increase the success of your online marketing campaign, your visitors as well as your revenue!

8 Tips For Making Money Online As An Affiliate Marketer

by Stefan James

For many people who want to start making money online the first place they look to go is to become a affiliate and promote other people's products which is awesome. Tons of people make millions every year just being an affiliate marketer. It is the easiest way to get started online because you don't need a website, a list, you don't need to pick up the phone, etc. All you have to do is drive targeted traffic to whatever your promoting. Ok now for my 8 top tips to be successful with affiliate marketing.

(1). Affiliate Marketing Is Easy Money. For some people it is easy and quick money because of their gigantic email list they can market to time after time. But for the new marketer all you have to do is start driving targeted traffic to your affiliate product and you will make plenty of money.

(2). Don't Promote Products That Only Pay You One Time. What is the point of busting your butt and promoting like crazy just for a one time commission of let's say $50? Wouldn't it be great to promote a product or membership site where you can earn a monthly commission every single month for just doing the work one time? Of course it would! You will be kissing that job goodbye in no time.

(3). Learn How To Become a Super Affiliate. To become a super affiliate marketing like the big dogs who earn millions online just carbon copy what they do online. If you don't have a big email list use someones, write articles, forum marketing, articles, ppc, and all types of marketing the big dogs do to earn millions online.

(4). Customize Your Affiliate Promotional Materials. When promoting a product most website owners will offer you an affiliate tools page where you can get solo emails, forum signatures, example PPC ads etc...Use these for ideas. Always customize your own ads and emails to stick out from the other affiliates that are promoting the same product you are.

(5). Don't Promote Too Many Affiliate Products At The Same Time. I say this because if you are trying to promote 10-15 products at the same time all you are going to be doing is overwhelming yourself and you will become so frustrated because you are not making any money. I recommend only sticking to 2-3 affiliate products at a time. Once you have income coming in consistently then move to other products.

(6). Spend Your Hard Earned Money With Care I have been online for awhile now working from home successfully and take it from me you will see a bunch of crap out on the internet about affiliate ebooks, how to be super affiliates, bla bla bla. I look for hands on training with video tutorials that show you EXACTLY what you need to do to be successful. So keep that mind and spend your money wisely.

(7). Don't Quit Your Day Job Until You Replace That Income By 3 Times. Ok my motto is "Jobs Suck" because they do. When I was working that 9-5 I hated it with a passion. When you become an affiliate I wouldn't recommend you leave your job for good until you replace that job income by three times a month with affiliate marketing or whatever your doing to make money online. That's why I say promote products that pay you monthly.

(8). Be Consistent With Your Marketing Keep a daily to do task everyday to skyrocket your affiliate marketing income. If you do this right you will only be working 2-3 hours a day making way more than you did at a job. Then you will have time to do whatever you want. This is the dream for working at home and I wish you the best of luck!

Tebing Bunga Lily

Hari demi hari, waktu terus berjalan.

Selaras denga pepatah yang mengatakan "A great pleasure in live is doing what people say, you can not do".

So, mari kita wujudkan mimpi kita agar menjadi kenyataan... keep fight, do the best, make dream come true... good luck!

Pola Pikir Orang Yang Sukses

"Everyting is Possible with inspiration and hardworking" oleh Valentino Dinsi.

(2). Ahmad memilih untuk mendapat kompensasiberdasarkan hasil.
(3). Ahmad selalu mengelola uang dengan baik.
(4). Ahmad tetap akan mengambiltidakan walaupun sebenarnya takut.
(5). dan seterusnya ...

Sudahkaah anda mengoptimalkan Aset Terbesar milik anda?

Good luck.

Cara Mendapatkan semua yang Kita Inginkan

Big Profits Using PPC In Your Affiliate Marketing Business

by The Affiliate Guru

PPC is one of the four basic types of Search Engines. PPC is also one of the most cost-effective ways of targeted internet advertising. According to Forbes magazine, PPC or Pay Per Click, accounts to 2 billion dollars a year and is expected to increase to around 8 billion dollars by the year 2008.
Let us take a quick look at how PPC Search Engines work.

These engines create listings and rate them based on a bid amount the website owner is willing to pay for each click from that search engine. Advertisers bid against each other to receive higher ranking for a specific keyword or phrase.

The highest bidder for a certain keyword or phrase will then have the site ranked as number 1 in the PPC Search Engines followed by the second and third highest bidder, up to the last number that have placed a bid on the same keyword or phrase. Your ads then will appear prominently on the results pages based on the dollar amount bid you will agree to pay per click.

How do you make money by using PPC into your affiliate marketing business?

Most affiliate programs only pay when a sale is made or a lead delivered after a visitor has clickthrough your site. Your earnings will not always be the same as they will be dependent on the web site content and the traffic market.

The reason why you should incorporate PPC into your affiliate marketing program is that earnings are easier to make than in any other kind of affiliate program not using PPC. This way, you will be making profit based from the clickthroughs that your visitor will make on the advertiser's site. Unlike some programs, you are not paid per sale or action.

PPC can be very resourceful of your website. With PPC Search Engines incorporated into your affiliate program, you will be able to profit from the visitor's who are not interested in your products or services. The same ones who leave your site and never comes back.

You will not only get commissions not only from those who are just searching the web and finding the products and services that they wanted but you will be able to build your site's recognition as a valuable resource. The visitors who have found what they needed from you site are likely to come back and review what you are offering more closely. Then they will eventually come back to search the web for other products.

This kind of affiliate program is also an easy way for you to generate some more additional revenues. For example, when a visitor on your site does a search in the PPC Search Engine and clicks on the advertiser bided listings, the advertisers' account will then be deducted because of that click. With this, you will be compensated 30% to 80% of the advertisers' bid amount.

PPC is not only a source of generating easy profits; it can also help you promote your own site. Most of the programs allow the commissions received to be spent for advertising with them instantly and with no minimum earning requirement. This is one of the more effective ways to exchange your raw visitors for targeted surfers who has more tendencies to purchase your products and services.

What will happen if you when you integrate PPC into your affiliate program?

PPC usually have ready-to-use affiliate tools that can be easily integrated into your website. The most common tools are search boxes, banners, text links and some 404-error pages. Most search engines utilize custom solutions and can provide you with a white-label affiliate program. This enables you, using only a few lines of code, to integrate remotely-hosted co-branded search engine into your website.

The key benefits? Not only more money generated but also some extra money on the side. Plus a lifetime commissions once you have referred some webmaster friends to the engine.

Think about it. Where can you get all these benefits while already generating some income for your site? Knowing some of the more useful tools you can use for your affiliate program is not a waste of time. They are rather a means of earning within an earning.

Best know more about how you can use PPC search engines into your affiliate program than miss out on a great opportunity to earn more profits.

PPC Domination Versus Social Media

by Jim Zimmermann

The second half of 2008 and the beginning of 2009 has seen the advent of marketing through Social Networking and moving away from pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. There are many Social Networking sites that have become very popular, such as; Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin, and there are many more. But, if you are using these Social Networking sites as a means of advertising, you could be making a big mistake. While Social Networking is a very important tool to use, it is really only a tool to making friends, building social equity, and building your reputation. The primary purpose of Social Networking is not for generating targeted leads on a daily basis, and it is not for making money in a consistent, direct, and focused manner.

Social Networking does not allow you to outsource your personality when you want to take a vacation, or even better, when you want to retire. There is no way to split test, target, or increase results with the click of a mouse. If you aren't able to do any of these things, are you really building a long lasting busineess?

This is what makes PPC domination such an important part of doing any kind of business on the internet. PPC domination is the most important skill that anyone marketing on the internet must learn. If you want to build laser targeted advertising campaigns or build a strong, dedicated downline, ppc domination is the one way that you can guarantee that you will get a steady stream of qualifid traffic.

PPC advertising is a pretty easy skill to learn, there are thousands of tutorials available on the internet. PPC domination is much harder to learn. What is meant by PPC domination?, PPC domination means that you have the ability to make Adwords advertising completely FREE and make money every time you run your and while taking almost 100% of the risk out of your Adwords campaign.

Hopefully you learned a little about the reasons that PPC domination is still the best to succeed on the internet and that Social Networking is great tool for building your personality, but not for building a long lasting business.
